…may be hard to come by amongst a group of mostly strangers, but the beauty of Startup Weekend is that it happens.  Right before I left for the day last night, Lance said, “Come check this out.”  (He wouldn’t let me bring my computer, so I’m doing this from memory, but the impression is more [...]

Feature Creep

November 10th, 2007 · 1 Comment

I haven’t been to all the Startup Weekends, but I’m sure Andrew will back me up.  It’s always a problem, but it’s intensified during the 56 hours or so we have to work it out.  Everyone wants the weekend’s product to have the nifty features that distinguish it from everyone else, and wants to perform [...]

Founder Fight

September 19th, 2007 · 5 Comments

I suppose I posted about the success of Toronto Startup Weekend a little too soon.  Seems like a disagreement has broken out among the founders.
Andrew Hyde, the founder of the Startup Weekend concept, was the first to bring this up.  Seems like Andrew got a bit of a surprise about his role, the equity structure, [...]

Toronto Results

September 18th, 2007 · No Comments

Toronto Startup Weekend just concluded.
The concept selected was LobbyThem.  LobbyThem allows anyone to pose the question that they want their elected officials to act on.  You do a search to see if your issue has already been posed or, if it hasn’t, have the opportunity to pose it and see if others agree. Once any [...]
